Sheriff Baca earned his Doctorate of Public Administration Degree from the University of Southern California and entered the Sheriff's Department 45 years ago. Sheriff Baca was originally elected as the Sheriff of Los Angeles County in 1998 and is now serving his third term.
As Sheriff of LA County, he commands the largest Sheriff’s Department in the United States with a budget of 2.4 billion dollars, leads over 18,000 budgeted sworn and professional staff, and protects over 4 million people.
